Emily Huggins is a kindergarten teacher at Pinnacle Preparatory, part of the Uplift Education network of charter schools. Prior to teaching at Uplift, Emily was the Early Primary Content Coordinator for Uplift’s CMO. She was responsible for the creation of the Common Formative Assessments and curriculum for grades K-2.

Emily came to Texas after teaching in the Chicago area for four years. As a Teach For America corps member, Emily taught Early Childhood Education on Chicago’s west side. After her commitment, she continued to teach but served as a kindergarten teacher at West Gary Lighthouse Charter School in Gary, Indiana. During her time at WGLCS, Emily’s students grew 2.4 years in math, 2.5 years in reading, and she emphasized parent commitment as seen through 100% parent teacher conference rates throughout the year.

Originally from Springfield, Illinois, Emily graduated cum laude from the University of Miami, in Coral Gables, FL, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training. She also earned a Master of Science in Early Childhood Education from Dominican University in River Forest, IL. Emily currently lives in Dallas, TX, and enjoys playing with her puppy, watching the Cubs and Miami Hurricanes, traveling, and spending time with friends.
