Kalyn Perkins teaches English and reading at Irving High School, where she has been happily teaching for six years.  During those six years, Kalyn has taught a variety of grades and classes including: English II and III, junior and senior reading, and JV cheerleading.  In an effort to support her students and colleagues, Kalyn has held various leadership roles on campus including: grade level lead for English II and English III, leader of the Guidance and Advisement focus team for High Schools That Work, and being member of the AVID site team.

Kalyn was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas.  She attended K-12 school in the Birdville Independent School District where she was influenced by several transformative English teachers.  After high school, she graduated with honors from The University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelors of Arts in English.  Currently, Kalyn has a home in Richland Hills with her boyfriend and three dogs.  In her free time, she enjoys reading, making jewelry, and watching movies.
