Stephanie Burns is a third year teacher at F.D. Roosevelt High School in Dallas ISD. She teaches Physics and Anatomy & Physiology, and currently serves as the Science Department Chair, a member of the Campus Instructional Leadership Team and a Mentor Teacher for the Teacher Advancement Program. In addition to campus leadership roles, she has also served as a coach for the women’s wrestling team and as a Senior Class Sponsor. Due to her dedication to her students and involvement beyond the classroom, Stephanie was named Roosevelt’s 2011-2012 Teacher of the Year.
Stephanie graduated magna cum laude from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. While in college, she served as President of the Texas A&M Memorial Student Center, a department of Student Affairs dedicated to campus programs and leadership development. Through her involvement, Stephanie traveled abroad to Italy, Qatar and Mexico – experiences that prepared her to work and teach people from many different countries and cultures.
Stephanie moved to Dallas in 2010 to begin teaching as part of Teach For America. She loves DFW for its unique combination of country and big city life and is just as likely to be found at a country concert as she is visiting a museum downtown.
