Christine Denison is currently the PYP Dean at Peak Preparatory, part of the Uplift Education charter schools network. She has served as Peak’s 5th grade science teacher and Primary Science Coordinator since 2010 and has helped create science curriculum and assessments for the district. Christine also works with a research team from the University of Colorado to identify best practices for using science computer simulations in the classroom and is helping to create professional development for teachers based on their findings. Christine began teaching science in the Rio Grande Valley as a Teach for America Corps member in 2006, where she taught for two years and served as the science department chair.
Along with her experience in the classroom, Christine has served as the Assistant Director of Children and Youth programs at the Stewpot, a resource center for the homeless and poor in downtown Dallas. Christine also worked at public schools, teacher training centers, and the Ministry of Education as a Fulbright Fellow in Uruguay.
Christine is a Phi Betta Kappa member and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Austin College with degrees in Political Science and Spanish. She enjoys traveling and has visited 16 different countries on five different continents. Christine also enjoys going to concerts, the theatre, and running with her dog Sophie.
