Derrick Ross has worked for the Dallas Independent School District for ten years, and was promoted this year to Academic Coordinator. Previously he served as a 5th grade science/social studies teacher at the “Recognized” Joseph J. Rhoads Learning Center. During his tenure he has been recognized for his dedication to serving his students, school, and community. His recognitions include; Dallas ISD Campus Teacher of the Year (2006-07) and (2010-2011), Joseph J. Rhoads Campus Instructional Leadership team (CILT) 2004-2011, Joseph J. Rhoads Principal’s Service Award (2003-2004) (2006-2007), and Joseph J. Rhoads TAKS Achievement Awards 2007 and 2008.

Derrick earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing/Management and a Master of Arts degree in Sociology from Prairie View A&M University. Derrick currently resides in Cedar Hill, Texas where he is a husband (Xiomara, wife) and father of three sons (Xavier, Zachary and Dylan). Derrick enjoys reading, listening to music, cooking, and coaching youth sports.
